NEW HARTFORD — A Frankfort man was arrested on felony criminal contempt charges after allegedly harassing a woman at her workplace despite an active order of protection.

Ryan Leuenberger, 39, was taken into custody Oct. 6 by the United States Marshals Service – NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force.

New Hartford Police received a report Sept. 20 from a female victim that Leuenberger had engaged in harassing behavior toward her while she was at her place of employment in New Hartford.

The conduct occurred despite an active Herkimer County Court Order of Protection prohibiting contact with the victim.

Police officers investigated the report and attempted to locate Leuenberger during the course of the investigation.

The case was assigned to the New Hartford Police Criminal Investigation Division and an arrest warrant for Leuenberger was obtained.

Leuenberger was charged with one count of criminal contempt in the first degree, a felony, and one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, a misdemeanor.

The fugitive task force that located Leuenberger is comprised of members of the United States Marshals Service, New Hartford Police, Utica Police, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Oneida County Probation Department, New York State Police and New York State Parole.

Leuenberger was arraigned in the Town of New Hartford Court and held without bail pending a felony hearing later this week.
