ROCKLAND — A shooting suspect has been arrested in Florida following a multistate investigation into a September incident that left one person injured.

Elijah Finch, 29, of Brockton, was taken into custody Oct. 1 just outside Orlando, Florida, according to the Rockland Police Department.

The arrest stems from a shooting that occurred Sept. 21 at approximately 5:20 p.m. at 292 Market Street in Rockland.

Officers responding to reports of gunshots found one victim suffering from gunshot-related injuries.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where they were treated and later stabilized.

A handgun was recovered in close proximity to the scene.

Following a detailed investigation, Rockland Police detectives identified Finch as the suspect and tracked his movements down the East Coast.

The department coordinated with out-of-state authorities during the investigation.

The Rockland Police Department is currently seeking extradition of Finch to Massachusetts, where he will face charges related to the shooting incident.
