Lawrence man arrested on gun charges after traffic stop

LAWRENCE — A few weeks ago, Patrol officers assigned to the midnight shift conducted a motor vehicle stop after observing a driver fail to stop at a red light.

During the stop, officers made contact with the operator and a firearm was clearly visible to the officers from inside the vehicle.

The firearm was immediately and safely secured.

The operator was unable to produce a license to carry and was taken into custody without incident.

After verifying the serial number, it was discovered that the firearm had been reported stolen out of Newington, New Hampshire.

He was transported to the station, booked, and charged with the following offenses: Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card, Improper Storage of a Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property Over $1200, and Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device.
