HOLYOKE — Holyoke police officers seized two loaded firearms and heroin/fentanyl Saturday after a domestic assault report led to a vehicle pursuit through city streets.

Officers Giovanni Abella and Samantha Cayer responded around 12:40 p.m. to a disturbance report where a male suspect took a child and damaged property in a home, Police Chief Brian Keenan announced.

Lieutenant Jorge Monsalve located the suspect’s vehicle on Lower Westfield Road and attempted a traffic stop.

The suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Jayden Moquin of Holyoke, eventually stopped on Kane Road but refused to exit the vehicle before speeding away from officers.

Moquin ran several stop signs and red lights while recklessly speeding through residential streets and through the shopping plaza on Westfield Road.

He drove against traffic on Gerard Way before slowing down and jumping out of the moving car.

Officers Andrew Gruska and Thomas Spafford arrested Moquin after a brief foot pursuit.

Moquin dropped a bag during the chase that contained two illegal loaded firearms, including one large-capacity firearm loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition.

Officers also seized approximately 117 bags of suspected heroin/fentanyl and more than $500 in cash.

Moquin faces multiple charges including possession of firearms without an FID card, possession of a large-capacity feeding device, possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug, failure to stop for police, resisting arrest, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, strangulation or suffocation, and assault and battery.
