SOUTH BURLINGTON — A head-on collision on the Interstate 89 southbound Exit 13 off-ramp Oct. 6 resulted in the arrest of a Colchester woman on an outstanding warrant.
Vermont State Police troopers from the Williston Barracks responded to the crash at approximately 5:54 a.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Heather M. Rushford, 48, was traveling westbound on I-89 when she turned onto the southbound off-ramp in the wrong direction.
Rushford’s vehicle collided head-on with a vehicle operated by Free A. Harrington, 49, of Essex Junction.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were evaluated at the scene.
Their vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the area.
Investigation revealed that Rushford had an active in-state warrant for failure to appear in court related to a previous charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
The warrant was issued for lack of $200 bail.
Rushford was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chittenden Criminal Division.
She was issued a citation to appear in court Nov. 25 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charge of grossly negligent operation.
