MALTA — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to an active larceny call Oct. 2 at 2:18 p.m. at the Market 32 on Kendall Way.
Investigation into the complaint led to the arrest of Evyan D. Chaskey, 40, of Plattsburgh, for grand larceny in the 4th degree, a class E felony.
Chaskey also faces charges of petit larceny and conspiracy in the 5th degree, both class A misdemeanors.
Chaskey is accused of stealing a credit card and U.S. currency from a pocketbook that was reportedly taken from a shopping cart in the store’s parking lot by an alleged male accomplice.
She is also charged with agreeing with another person to commit a felony.
Chaskey was taken into custody by the New York State Police in Plattsburgh and later released on appearance tickets at the direction of Malta Town Court Judge Ellwood A. Sloat Jr., pending further proceedings.
Her alleged accomplice, Seth L. Church, 31, of Ausable Forks, was incarcerated at the Clinton County Jail on a warrant for separate charges.
An arrest warrant for the current incident was filed with the Clinton County Jail.
