STAMFORD — A Stamford man has been found guilty in the 2020 fatal shooting of Shernetta Dunmore.

Ian Evans was convicted of manslaughter in the first degree with a firearm, assault in the first degree and criminal use of a weapon following a trial that began Sept. 23 at Stamford Superior Court.

Dunmore, 33, was shot multiple times in a parking lot at Dale Street and Ursula Place on Sept. 20, 2020, at approximately 12:30 a.m.

Officers responding to reports of shots fired found individuals tending to Dunmore, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

She was transported to the hospital where she later died from her injuries.

A second victim, a 43-year-old Stamford resident, also suffered multiple gunshot wounds but was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released from the hospital.

Detectives identified Evans, 33, as the suspect through a comprehensive investigation.

An arrest warrant was issued for Evans in March 2021 on a murder charge, and he was subsequently taken into custody.

Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 7.
