SOUTH PORTLAND — South Portland detectives arrested a second suspect Wednesday in connection with a Sept. 23 shooting incident in the Redbank Village area.
Adam Figueroa-Gomez, 19, of Gorham, was arrested without incident at 20 Preble Street in Gorham after police executed a high-risk search and arrest warrant.
The arrest involved assistance from the Gorham Police Department, Scarborough Police Department, Southern Maine Regional SWAT Team and the Cumberland County ESU.
Gorham police issued a “Code Red” warning to residents within a half-mile radius of the warrant location as a precaution.
Area schools were notified through a school resource officer, and Village Elementary School, Gorham Middle School and Gorham High School went into “Secure” status during the warrant execution.
Figueroa-Gomez is the second suspect arrested in the case, following the Sept. 24 arrest of Zane Ibrahim, 18, of Kennebunk.
The charges stem from an incident on Sept. 23 at approximately 10:50 p.m. when the Portland Regional Communications Center received several 911 calls reporting shots fired into a crowd from a vehicle in the Redbank Community Center parking lot on MacArthur Circle West.
The vehicle fled the scene after the shooting, according to police reports.
Officers interviewed witnesses and detectives recovered evidence confirming gunfire occurred, but no injuries were reported.
Police also investigated a related incident on Sept. 20 at approximately 10:40 p.m. when multiple 911 calls reported shots fired near Westbrook Street and Devereaux Circle in South Portland.
No victims were located in that incident.
Detectives identified a suspect vehicle and the two suspects in the Sept. 23 incident.
Ibrahim was arrested Sept. 24 when the vehicle was located in Kennebunk.
A search warrant for the Gorham address was issued Oct. 1 based on credible information from the ongoing investigation.
Ibrahim faces charges of criminal threatening, a Class C felony; reckless conduct, a Class C felony; and terrorizing, a Class E misdemeanor.
Figueroa-Gomez is charged with criminal threatening, a Class C felony; reckless conduct, a Class C felony; terrorizing, a Class E misdemeanor; and violation of conditions of release, a Class E misdemeanor.
