SPRINGFIELD — Springfield police arrested three people and recovered a loaded firearm Wednesday night after responding to a ShotSpotter activation.
Officers from the Springfield Police Neighborhood Stabilization Bureau, Squad “C” officers and Massachusetts State Police troopers responded to the 0-100 block of Tyler Street around 9:30 p.m. for the ShotSpotter activation.
Officers found evidence of a shooting and observed property damage to the siding of a home.
Police located the suspect vehicle on Main Street near the Chicopee line and conducted a traffic stop after the vehicle pulled over on Center Street near Plainfield Street in Chicopee.
Officers detained the driver, Jessica Alvarez, and passengers David Coleman and Germaine Wray.
Police observed crack-cocaine on Wray’s lap and additional crack-cocaine in a bag.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded firearm.
All three occupants were arrested.
David Coleman, 27, of Chicopee, faces charges including carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, intentional or reckless discharge of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number during the commission of a felony, conspiracy, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and malicious destruction of property.
Germaine Wray, 47, who is homeless, faces charges including firearm violation with three prior violent/drug crimes, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, intentional or reckless discharge of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number during the commission of a felony, conspiracy, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, malicious destruction of property, threat to commit a crime and possession of a Class B drug – subsequent offense.
Jessica Alvarez, 47, of Pittsfield, faces charges including firearm violation with three prior violent/drug crimes, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, intentional or reckless discharge of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number during the commission of a felony, conspiracy, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and malicious destruction of property.
