Watervliet man charged with weapon possession after apartment altercation

WATERVLIET — Police arrested a 58-year-old man after he allegedly threatened another person with a handgun during an altercation at Hudson Shores Apartments on Sept. 28.

The Watervliet Police Department responded to 1545 Broadway to investigate the incident.

Upon arrival, a witness turned over a loaded .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun and identified the person who had possessed it.

After an on-scene investigation, police determined that during the altercation Dante C. Perry produced a handgun which was wrestled from his hands by uninvolved witnesses.

The Watervliet Police Department located Perry inside his residence and took him into custody without incident.

Perry has an extensive criminal history, including an assault arrest in August that occurred in front of Watervliet Police officers.

Police charged Perry with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, a Class C felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a Class D felony.

Perry was arraigned in Watervliet City Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility.
