TROY — A 22-year-old Troy man was arrested Monday evening after police found a loaded illegal handgun during a parole visit.
Vincent Lilly was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree following the multi-agency operation on 5th Avenue near 109th Street around 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29.
The operation involved the Troy Police Department, New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office and Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office.
Officers were conducting a home visit of an individual supervised by state parole when they located the weapon.
Lilly was arrested without incident and taken to the Troy Police Department for processing.
He was arraigned in Troy City Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail.
The arrest was part of the Gun Involved Violence Elimination Initiative, funded through the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

The Troy Police Department has been involved in removing 121 firearms from the city to date through various operations.
