RUTLAND — Vermont State Police cited a Bennington man for aggravated assault following an inmate-on-inmate attack at Marble Valley Correctional Center.
Kevin Simmons, 27, was issued the citation Oct. 2 by the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
The assault occurred in the Echo Unit at the correctional facility around 7 p.m. Sept. 23.
The victim, Joshua Croteau, 40, of Rutland, sustained a fractured jaw and broken teeth in the attack.
Vermont Department of Corrections staff members reported the incident to police.
The investigation remains active and additional charges are possible.
