Utica juvenile charged after domestic knife incident injures woman

UTICA — Utica Police and Utica Fire units were dispatched to a residence on the 1500 block of West St for a domestic related incident on Sept. 28 at approximately 4:15 p.m.

Upon arrival they met with the juvenile suspect’s family members who stated that an argument had ensued and during the argument the male grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened to stab them.

The male threw an object at the television, damaging it.

They were initially able to remove the first knife, however the male grabbed another one and began to approach them.

A struggle then took place, and as this was occurring a female was cut several times.

Officers arrived and took the juvenile into custody, transporting him to the Utica Police Department.

An investigator with the Juvenile Aid Unit completed charges for assault in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, menacing in the second degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.

The 13-year-old male was issued appearance tickets returnable to Family Court/Probation and his care was turned over to another family member.

His identity will not be released due to his age.
