Worcester police arrest 19-year-old man for carrying firearm during traffic stop

WORCESTER — Worcester Police officers arrested a 19-year-old man for carrying a firearm during a traffic stop on Plantation Street on Sept. 28.

Officers conducted the traffic stop at approximately 6:50 p.m. after observing a vehicle with an owner who has a suspended license.

The owner was not operating the vehicle and was seated in the backseat.

Three individuals were in the vehicle with her, including Luis Muniz of Worcester, who was seated in the front seat.

Officers observed Muniz sweating profusely and breathing heavily.

Muniz stepped out of the vehicle and was searched by officers.

An officer found a firearm in his front waistband.

Since Muniz is 19 years old, it is illegal for him to carry a gun.

Muniz was arrested and charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license and carrying a firearm without a license.

None of the occupants were found to have a valid license.

The driver was arrested for operating with a suspended license.

A friend with a valid license was allowed to take the vehicle.
