POWNAL — Vermont State Police arrested a 34-year-old Pownal man on a charge of first degree aggravated domestic assault Sept. 29.
Police were dispatched to a family fight complaint at a residence on Vermont Route 346 at 2:23 p.m.
During the investigation, police determined that Robert L. Poirot attempted to cause serious bodily injury to a family member, according to a police report.
Poirot was arrested and transported to the Shaftsbury State Police Barracks for processing.
The victim, a 34-year-old Pownal resident, was not identified by police, which does not release the names of victims of sexual assault or domestic violence.
At the conclusion of processing, Poirot was issued conditions of release and a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on Sept. 30 at 12:30 p.m.
