LANCASTER — Police responded to 566 calls for service between Sept. 12-18, according to the Lancaster Police Department’s weekly blotter.

Officers made an arrest for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree after stopping a vehicle with a missing back window on Broadway.

The driver was found to have a suspended license and no insurance, telling police he believed his ex-girlfriend had been paying for coverage.

During a pre-tow inventory search, officers discovered capsules of a controlled substance for which the driver had no prescription.

In a separate incident, police charged a driver with aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree following a minor injury accident.

The driver’s license was suspended for not having insurance in effect and was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

Officers responded to a criminal mischief report at a town residence where a vehicle’s rear driver side window was smashed and a purse containing credit cards was stolen from a car parked at a local dance studio.

The victim reported freezing all credit cards, and the case was referred to the Detective Bureau.

Police investigated a grand larceny incident at a Transit Road department store where an unknown female attempted to leave with unpaid merchandise totaling $1,222.97 at 4:41 p.m.

Asset protection staff attempted to stop the woman in the vestibule after she passed all points of sale, but she turned over the cart and fled north through the parking lot.

In another shoplifting case at a Transit Road department store, a male suspect was seen carrying a 65-inch television over his head through a tree line on the southeast end of the parking lot.

A witness reported seeing the man exit the tree line with the television and get into a red pickup truck.

Police also responded to 102 emergency medical service calls during the reporting period.
