SHAWANGUNK — State Police members from SP Highland responded to a reported plane crash at the Kobelt/Walkill Airport Saturday at about 2:25 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a small single-engine airplane crashed while attempting to take off from the airport and caught fire.
The pilot, who was the only person on board the aircraft, was found deceased at the scene.
The FAA has been notified, and the investigation is ongoing.
