FAIRFAX — A motorcycle crash at the intersection of Vermont Route 104 and Nichols Road sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries Saturday morning.
Tyler Gulfield, 38, of St. Albans was riding a 2025 Kawasaki Z900 southbound on Route 104 at 10:34 a.m. when he collided with a 2018 BMW X5 operated by Karen Marie-Peltier, 61, of Fairfax, according to Vermont State Police.
Preliminary investigation indicated Gulfield was traveling at a high rate of speed when Marie-Peltier entered the intersection to travel north on Route 104.
Gulfield was transported to Northwestern Medical Center and then to the University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
Marie-Peltier sustained minor injuries and was taken to Northwestern Medical Center.
The motorcycle was totaled in the crash, while the BMW sustained front driver’s side damage and airbag deployment.
Weather conditions were clear and sunny with dry road conditions at the time of the crash.
Fairfax Fire Department and Fairfax Rescue also responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
