Rome teen charged with felony contempt after domestic incident

ROME — A 16-year-old male was arrested Thursday evening after allegedly threatening a household member with a broken pipe and striking them with a rock despite an active order of protection, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol.

Patrol deputies responded to a domestic incident on Pinecrest Drive just after 6 p.m. Sept. 25.

The juvenile, whose name was not released due to his age, first threatened the household member with a broken pipe before throwing a rock that struck the victim in the head, authorities said.

The victim reported no injuries from the incident.

The teen was arrested and taken to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building where the Juvenile Aid Unit provided assistance.

He was charged with criminal contempt in the first degree, a class E felony; two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor; menacing in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor; and attempted assault in the third degree, a class B misdemeanor.

The juvenile was processed and issued appearance tickets directing him to appear in Oneida County Court Youth Part.

He was released to a parent following processing.
