DELHI — A 19-year-old college student was arrested Sept. 25 on charges of criminal trespass following a break-in at a McDonald’s restaurant on Main Street.

Aidan M. Herm of Rock Hill was charged with criminal trespass in the third degree after an investigation by the Delhi Police Department.

The investigation began Sept. 23 when store employees reported that a male subject entered the closed restaurant the night before by climbing through the drive-through window while a second subject attempted to follow.

Security footage confirmed the incident, and witnesses stated the individuals fled in a grey sedan after being confronted by staff.

Delhi Police, with assistance from SUNY Delhi University Police, reviewed village traffic cameras and campus security footage, which led investigators to identify Herm as the individual who had fully entered the establishment.

Officers from the Delhi Police Department and University Police located Herm near his dormitory and took him into custody without incident.

He was processed on the charge and transported to Delaware County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.

A temporary order of protection was also requested on behalf of the complainants.

The investigation into the identity and actions of the second suspect remains ongoing.
