Rutland murder suspect from Michigan arrested

RUTLAND — Terrence L. Biggs Jr., 25, of Warren, Michigan, was arrested by New York State Police on Sept. 24 during a traffic stop in Portland, New York.

Biggs Jr. was wanted by Rutland City police for second-degree murder in connection with the April 22 homicide of Austin T. Rodriguez, 26.

The arrest occurred during the early morning hours of Sept. 24 when New York State Police Troop T conducted the traffic stop.

Detectives from the Rutland City Police Department’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations were notified of the arrest.

The original offense occurred at 43 Summer St. #3 in Rutland City.

Rodriguez was 26 years old at the time of his death on April 22.

Rutland City Police thanked the New York State Police Troop T, Vermont State Police, and the Vermont National Guard Counterdrug Program for their assistance in the investigation and apprehension.
