MONTVILLE — A 36-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges including home invasion after police found him hiding in a locked basement early Sept. 24.
Montville Police Dispatch received two phone calls at approximately 1:11 a.m. from a victim reporting that Alex Martin had called to say he was in their backyard and about to break into their residence.
Martin had been trespassed from the residence earlier in the evening.
Officers responded to the single-family residence and located Martin hiding in the locked basement with assistance from K-9 Sig of the Montville Police Department.
Martin was taken into custody after being apprehended by K-9 Sig.
EMS was requested for medical aid due to injuries Martin sustained while resisting officers and the police dog.
Martin was transported to Backus Hospital for medical treatment.
He was held on a $250,000 cash/surety bond and charged with home invasion, second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass, third-degree criminal trespass, interfering with an officer, disorderly conduct, second-degree harassment and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
