Latham man faces additional fraud charges after victim comes forward

LATHAM — State Police arrested Patrick Walsh on Sept. 16 on a warrant for additional charges of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree and Scheme to Defraud in the first degree.

On Aug. 25, an additional victim contacted State Police after seeing a previous press release about Walsh’s arrest.

The additional investigation determined that in the spring of 2023, Walsh reportedly contacted the victim and offered to sell them construction equipment.

The victim agreed to purchase multiple items and provided a deposit of more than $3,000.

Walsh allegedly failed to deliver the promised equipment and failed to return the victim the total deposit resulting in the theft of more than $1,000.

Walsh was produced from the Albany County Correctional Facility where he was being held on an unrelated but similar charge and transported to SP Latham for processing.

He was then arraigned at the Bethlehem Town Court and remanded back to the Albany County Correctional Facility.

On May 5, State Police originally arrested Patrick M. Walsh, 63 of Nassau, for two counts of Grand Larceny in the third degree, two counts of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree, and Scheme to Defraud in the first degree.

On April 16, at about 12:13 p.m., Troopers received a fraud complaint.

The investigation discovered Walsh allegedly defrauded multiple victims from August until February while in Schodack.

During these incidents, Walsh reportedly would collect money from the victims in exchange for a variety of items ranging from recreational vehicles to concert tickets, but never delivered the promised items.

His actions resulted in the collective theft of more than $20,000.

Walsh was arrested at his home and transported to SP Schodack for processing.

He was then arraigned at the Schodack Town Court, where he was remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility without bail.
