ITHACA — A 17-year-old male from Ithaca was arrested at approximately 12:20 a.m. Sept. 21 by New York State Police on charges of reckless driving, unlawful fleeing of a motor vehicle in the third degree and resisting arrest.
Multiple traffic tickets were also issued.
Around 11 p.m. Sept. 20, troopers and Tompkins County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a disturbance at the Ellis Hollow Community Center on Genung Road in the town of Dryden.
While deputies from the sheriff’s department were investigating, the 17-year-old male left the area in an Audi A4 and failed to obey law enforcement commands, speeding off and fleeing the scene.
A trooper activated emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle.
The trooper observed the driver committing numerous vehicle and traffic infractions and endangering the motoring public while failing to pull over and stop.
The driver ultimately stopped the vehicle in a driveway on Snyder Hill Road where a trooper engaged with the driver who continued to fail to comply with lawful orders and resisted arrest.
He was taken into custody by the trooper and a sheriff’s deputy.
The 17-year-old was transported to State Police Ithaca where he was checked out by EMS, issued a Family Court appearance ticket and turned over to a parent.
