RUMFORD — A 66-year-old Rumford man died after being struck by a vehicle Monday night on Kerr Street.
Mark Mccollough of Hillside Avenue was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a 2012 Toyota Tacoma around 9:54 p.m. Sept. 22.
The truck was driven by a 17-year-old male from Mexico, Maine, who was traveling southbound when the crash occurred between Dunton Street and Forest Avenue.
Rumford police, fire department and MedCare Ambulance personnel responded to the scene.
A specialized traffic crash reconstructionist and Rumford police investigators are examining the incident to determine the facts and cause.
Forensic blood draws were obtained from both the driver and pedestrian to determine whether alcohol or drugs were factors.
Investigators plan to seek a search warrant for a forensic examination of the vehicle and its onboard systems.
A Rumford police detective will attend an autopsy at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta.
Police said there is insufficient evidence at this time to support criminal charges or determine exactly what happened.
The juvenile driver’s identity will not be released.
Police are asking residents and businesses in the Kerr Street, Forest Avenue and Dunton Street area to review security or dash-camera footage from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday night.
