CHITTENDEN — A 45-year-old Rutland man was arrested on DUI charges after crashing into a boat trailer and attempting to flee the scene Sept. 22.
Vermont State Police troopers from the Rutland Barracks responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash by the Chittenden Dam at approximately 7:55 p.m.
Troopers arrived and found a vehicle that had crashed into a boat trailer and attempted to leave the scene.
The vehicle drove through the gate for the reservoir and became stuck on the hill.
Troopers identified the operator as Liam Ghent of Rutland.
Ghent displayed numerous indicators of impairment, police said.
Ghent refused to participate in standardized field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for DUI.
He was charged with DUI third offense and leaving the scene of an accident.
Ghent was processed, issued a criminal citation and released.
