BOSTON — Officers from District A-1 arrested a Stoughton man on multiple firearm and motor vehicle charges early Monday morning.
Joseph Johnson, 46, was taken into custody after officers observed traffic violations at approximately 1:25 a.m.
Police patrolling the Oak Street area saw a vehicle drive around another car stopped at a red light on Washington Street.
The suspect vehicle then proceeded through multiple red lights, prompting officers to initiate a traffic stop with emergency lights and sirens.
Officers approaching the vehicle detected the odor of alcohol and burnt marijuana.
Following an investigation, an exit order was given to Johnson.
Johnson removed a large bag of marijuana from his front pocket and appeared unsteady on his feet.
A motor vehicle inventory search revealed a Glock 9mm handgun loaded with seven rounds in the magazine.
Johnson is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on 15 charges.
The charges include carrying a firearm without a license as a third offense and operating under the influence of drugs and liquor.
Other charges include improper storage of a firearm, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest.
