Waitsfield man arrested in neighbor assault case

WAITSFIELD — A local man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly pointing a firearm at his neighbor during a dispute.

Troopers responded to 144 Butcher House Drive around 4:49 p.m. Thursday after a report of an altercation between neighbors.

The caller reported that Rick Middleton, 43, of Waitsfield, pointed a gun at his neighbor, Tyler Dunster, 36, also of Waitsfield.

Middleton was taken into custody Friday morning on a charge of aggravated assault under Title 13 VSA 1024.

The Vermont Department of Corrections assumed custody of Middleton, who is being held at the Northeast Correctional Complex.

Middleton is scheduled for arraignment via WebEx in Washington County Superior Court-Criminal Division at 1 p.m. Monday.
