Police investigate armed robbery at New London convenience store

NEW LONDON — Police are investigating an armed robbery at a New London convenience store Thursday night.

Officers responded to a report of a robbery at 485 Ocean Ave. at approximately 11:52 p.m.

The suspect was described as a black male of medium build, wearing dark clothing and white sneakers.

He was reported to have brandished a handgun during the incident.

The suspect fled the location with an undisclosed amount of cash before police arrived.

An area perimeter was established and a search was initiated, but the suspect was not located.

Detectives processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.

The investigation remains active.
