JERICHO — A Jericho man was arrested Friday night on a second-offense drunken driving charge after police responded to a report of an unconscious driver in a driveway.
The Vermont State Police were notified at approximately 11:07 p.m. after a resident reported an unknown vehicle had pulled into his driveway on Skunk Hollow Road and that the operator appeared to be passed out.
Troopers responded to the scene with members of the Underhill Jericho Fire Department.
While arriving, troopers were advised the vehicle had backed out of the driveway.
Troopers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
The operator was identified as James Ackerman, 64, of Jericho.
Troopers detected several indicators of impairment while speaking with him.
Ackerman was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence after a roadside investigation.
He was transported to the Williston State Police Barracks for processing.
Ackerman was processed and released with a citation to appear in the Chittenden County Superior Court – Criminal Division on Oct. 9 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charge of DUI #2 refusal.
