LAWRENCE — Last week, while conducting a targeted patrol of the Baystate Road area in response to ongoing reports of car break-ins, drug activity, and disturbances, the Quality-of-Life Task Force, on mountain bike patrol, encountered a male known to officers to have an active arrest warrant for drug-related offenses.
When officers issued verbal commands for the suspect to stop, he fled on foot, prompting a brief pursuit.
The suspect was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.
During a search incident to arrest, officers recovered several clear plastic baggies containing a substance believed to be Class B crack cocaine, with a total weight of approximately 10 grams.
The suspect was transported to the station for processing without further incident.
