UTICA — Three men were arrested on weapons and drug charges after police traced gunfire to a residence using surveillance footage Sept. 17.
Utica Police units received a ShotSpotter alert of gunfire on the 600 block of Lansing Street at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Officers found a spent 9mm shell casing and began canvassing the area for witnesses and video surveillance.
Surveillance footage showed a dark sedan entered the intersection at Lansing Street and Morris Street, and an individual fired at least one round.
No victims came forward and no property damage was located.
Investigators followed the vehicle on video until it reached its destination on James Street at Howard Avenue.
Video showed two individuals exit the vehicle and enter a residence.
Investigators applied for and were granted a search warrant to search the premises and the identified individuals.
METRO SWAT comprising Utica Police, New Hartford Police and Oneida County Sheriff’s personnel executed the warrant.
Three people were located and detained upon entering the premises.
Two handguns and felony level narcotics were found during the search.
The three were transported to the Utica Police Department.
Javian Torrence, 22, of Utica was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third, fourth and seventh degrees, and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.
Kanye Holmes, 21, of Utica was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third, fourth and seventh degrees, and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.
Jamre Davis, 26, of Utica was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third, fourth and seventh degrees.
Additional charges will be filed in relation to the original shots fired investigation.
