Jamestown police arrest 5 in drug, forgery cases

JAMESTOWN — Police arrested five people on drug and forgery charges during separate incidents on Sept. 17.

Officers patrolling the city’s north side at approximately 4:05 p.m. observed John Claydon and Kelly Mayne together in a vehicle, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

Both individuals had orders of protection requiring them to stay away from each other, police said.

Officers took both into custody without incident.

A search of Mayne revealed she possessed Suboxone strips without a prescription, police said.

Claydon was found in possession of methamphetamine during his search, according to police.

Mayne was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Claydon faces charges of criminal contempt in the first degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Mayne also had an outstanding Jamestown City Court warrant.

Both were held at Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment and were later released by the court.

At approximately 4:14 p.m., officers responded to Dollar General on Winsor Street for a report of an unwanted person.

Police discovered that Joseph B. Trippe, 25, of Jamestown, had attempted to purchase items using forged currency.

Trippe was arrested without incident and transported to Jamestown City Jail.

He was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree.

Trippe was held pending arraignment due to numerous failures to appear in court and was later released following his court appearance.

At 5:05 p.m., officers working a targeted patrol with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office near East 8th Street and American Place observed William E.L. Blakey preparing to inject narcotics on steps in an alleyway.

Blakey stopped when he noticed police and was taken into custody without incident.

A search yielded narcotics, police said.

Blakey was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

He was held pending arraignment due to 14 prior failures to appear in court and was released following his court appearance.
