Geneva man arrested for stealing donation jar from Castle Street business

GENEVA — Members of the City of Geneva Police Department’s Uniformed Division responded to a business at 118 Castle Street for the report of a theft Wednesday at approximately 1 p.m.

Officers were informed by the business owner that a Hispanic male had just entered the business and stolen a donation jar.

The officers canvassed the area and located a male matching the description of the suspect on Exchange Street.

Officers determined that Jonathan G. Toledo, a resident of the City of Geneva, after previously being advised not to enter the business of 118 Castle Street, did enter and remain unlawfully in the business with the intent to commit a crime.

Jonathan G. Toledo has been arrested fourteen times in 2024 for stealing from vehicles, stealing from businesses, and drug possession.

Jonathan G. Toledo was transported to the police department, processed, and transported to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.

Jonathan G. Toledo was released without bail during the arraignment proceedings and will answer to the charges at a later date.

The City of Geneva Detective Bureau has identified Jonathan G. Toledo as a person of interest in several car larcenies that have occurred over the past three weeks.

Jonathan Gabriel Toledo, 27, of Geneva, New York, was charged with burglary in the third degree, a class D felony.
