AUBURN — A 58-year-old man who disappeared from the Mill Street area remains missing as of Thursday evening, prompting police to scale down their extensive search efforts.
Darren Cyr left the Mill Street area on his own, most likely on foot, sometime after 1 a.m. on Sept. 14, according to the Auburn Police Department.
Police said as of 7 p.m. Thursday they do not have a clothing description for Cyr and believe he does not have any tracking devices with him.
There is no danger to the public, police said.
Dozens of officers have conducted an extensive search of wooded areas, bodies of water and train tracks using multiple K9 teams, helicopters, dive teams and drones.
Officers from multiple agencies participated in the search efforts.
Without new information, police said they will scale down search efforts but will continue searching in different ways using every available resource.
Police are asking the public to continue checking home and business cameras for anyone who may be Cyr.
Hunters with trail cameras in the Route 20 area are being asked to review footage from after 1 a.m. Sept. 14 and report anyone matching Cyr’s description.
Cyr is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and approximately 190 pounds.
Anyone with information, photos or video is urged to contact the Auburn Police Department Detective Bureau at 508-832-7777.
