ENFIELD — Police arrested Philip Pietras of Enfield on Sept. 17 following a lengthy investigation into fraudulent funeral contracts.
Pietras, 5 Redwood St., was charged in connection with prepaid funeral contracts at Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home that police determined were fraudulent.
The investigation was conducted with neighboring agencies and the Rockville State’s Attorney’s Office after police received reports from multiple victims.
Contracts dating back 10 years were affected, according to police.
In total, 19 cases involving 22 victims resulted in losses exceeding $165,000.
Pietras faces 22 counts of selling a funeral service contract with intent to defraud, 11 counts of second-degree larceny by embezzlement and one count of second-degree forgery.
He posted a $150,000 court-set bond and had an additional $160,000 non-surety bond added.
Pietras is scheduled to appear Sept. 30 in Rockville Superior Court.
