WATERBURY — A 56-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday after allegedly striking a fire chief during an emergency response to a residential building elevator.
Vermont State Police received an emergency notification from an elevator at a building on State Drive at 12:39 p.m. Sept. 17.
The Waterbury Fire Department responded and found Estelle Wickwire lying on the floor of the elevator, refusing to get up.
Wickwire became aggressive while speaking with Fire Chief Gary Dillon, 62, and struck him, causing pain, police said.
Wickwire was arrested and transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing.
She faces charges of assault of a protected professional, false alarms, violation of conditions of release and disorderly conduct.
Both Wickwire and Dillon are Waterbury residents.
