Pembroke police seek man who drove elderly woman to Rhode Island

PEMBROKE — Police are seeking public assistance to identify a man who approached an elderly woman outside a restaurant and drove her to Providence, Rhode Island.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Ninety Nine Restaurant in Pembroke.

The woman had returned to the restaurant after closing hours to retrieve personal belongings.

While attempting to access the front door, she was approached by an individual who falsely claimed to be a valet or offered to drive her to the rear entrance, stating it would be open.

The woman entered the front passenger seat of the vehicle, and the individual drove her to Providence, where they exited the vehicle.

The woman is safe and unharmed, police said.

Certain details are being withheld to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

Police are working closely with law enforcement partners to identify the individual.
