CRANSTON — The Cranston Police Department has issued a community notification regarding level III sex offender Richard Morais, born July 29, 1965.
The notification was released pursuant to Rhode Island General Laws §11-37.1-1 et seq., known as the Sexual Offender Registration and Community Notification Act.
Morais is subject to registration and community notification under the act, which authorizes law enforcement agencies to provide information to the community upon an individual’s release.
The Sex Offender Board of Review determined that release of this information will enhance public safety and protection.
Community members, establishments and organizations receiving the notice have been identified because law enforcement determined they are in a location or close proximity to where Morais is likely to be encountered.
The locations are based on the individual’s residence, employment, vocation or otherwise frequently visited areas.
