KINGSTON — A Massachusetts man was arrested Sept. 12 after a violent confrontation with police that began when a passerby reported suspicious activity near Route 125 and Follybrook Terrace.
Sgt. Peltier responded to the call and approached the man, who immediately fled southbound on Route 125.
After Peltier pursued the suspect in his cruiser and cut him off, the man became verbally and physically aggressive, striking the cruiser window several times before running northbound into traffic.
Officer Worcester arrived to assist as the suspect continued to disregard lawful commands and attempted to flee again.
Worcester deployed his taser, making contact with the suspect, who continued to actively resist.
A second taser deployment was required before officers were able to bring the man under control after a prolonged struggle.
The suspect was identified as John Zengilowski, 43, of Wilmington, Mass.
Zengilowski admitted to officers that he was under the influence of methamphetamine and cocaine and was experiencing other medical issues.
He was transported to Exeter Hospital for evaluation, where he remained combative and hospital staff placed him in a spit mask.
Zengilowski was held overnight for medical observation and issued a summons to appear in court Nov. 18 on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
