WESTBROOK — Westbrook police arrested a 43-year-old transient Thursday in connection with several motor vehicle burglaries reported throughout the city.
Michael Blackwell was taken into custody after officers received multiple reports of vehicle break-ins and tracked him to the Eisenhower Drive area.
Blackwell attempted to flee when officers approached, but police quickly established a perimeter and apprehended him shortly afterward.
He faces theft charges related to several motor vehicle burglaries, according to police.
Officers recovered some stolen items during the arrest and subsequent investigation.
Police said there have been several motor vehicle burglaries in Westbrook over the past couple of weeks.
In all instances, the vehicles had been left unlocked overnight, police said.
