Lyons man arrested on drug, weapons charges after traffic stop

LYONS — New York State Police arrested a 48-year-old man on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop and search warrant execution.

Police received a complaint Sept. 9 about possible narcotics activity at a residence on Queen Street in Lyons.

During the investigation, information was developed identifying the suspect.

On Sept. 10, troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 on Broad Street in Lyons for a vehicle and traffic violation.

The operator and sole occupant, Adam Thomas, age 48, was found to be in possession of approximately 90 grams of cocaine.

He was subsequently arrested.

Later the same day, members of the New York State Police obtained and executed a search warrant at Thomas’s residence.

Police recovered approximately 2 kilograms of suspected cocaine, approximately 90 grams of suspected cocaine, four illegally possessed handguns, approximately 8 grams of suspected fentanyl, $2,767 in U.S. currency and a gray digital scale with residue.

Thomas was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 1st, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd with intent to sell, four counts of criminal possession of a weapon 2nd and endangering the welfare of a child.

Thomas was transported to Wayne County Jail for centralized arraignment.

The New York State Police were assisted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit.
