IRASBURG — Vermont State Police arrested a 28-year-old Essex Junction man on multiple charges including driving under the influence and cruelty to a child Wednesday night.
Christian Cheney was taken into custody at approximately 10:53 p.m. after troopers received a report of a possible impaired driver in Irasburg.
Police located Cheney’s vehicle on Vermont Route 58 and determined he was operating the vehicle with a juvenile passenger inside.
Following an investigation, Cheney was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks for processing.
While in custody, police said Cheney displayed violent and tumultuous behavior in a public place, leading to an additional charge of disorderly conduct.
Cheney faces charges of DUI first offense, cruelty to a child, and disorderly conduct.
