Holyoke police arrest 12 in multi-agency warrant sweep

HOLYOKE — Holyoke police and state and federal partners arrested 12 suspects during a warrant sweep Friday that resulted in the seizure of trafficking amounts of heroin, fentanyl and cocaine.

Police Chief Brian Keenan announced the results of the multi-agency operation involving the Holyoke Police Narcotics/Vice Unit, Holyoke Police Criminal Investigations Bureau, United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Hampden County Sheriff’s Department and Massachusetts State Police VFAS.

The operation also led to the arrest of four juvenile suspects in connection with a stolen Hyundai from Enfield, Connecticut.

At approximately 7:35 a.m., officers received information about a juvenile with an active warrant who was involved in a police pursuit out of Easthampton.

The pursuit was connected to a Hyundai stolen from Enfield, Connecticut.

Officers responded to the area of Tokeneke Road and Farnum Drive to search for four suspects.

When the suspects saw police, they ran.

Three 15-year-old males and one 15-year-old female, all from Holyoke, were located and arrested.

Two of the juvenile males had active arrest warrants.

Due to their ages, the suspects’ names will not be released.

Around 10:15 a.m., officers located Luis Carrion-Santiago in a parked vehicle near 137 North East Street.

The 26-year-old Holyoke man had an outstanding arrest warrant and was placed under arrest.

At approximately 11:10 a.m., officers went to an apartment at 851 Main Street searching for Alexander Santos Jr., who had a default warrant from Holyoke District Court for assault and battery on a police officer.

Officers located and arrested Santos Jr. in the apartment and observed a second subject, later identified as Carlos Cordova Jr., who was detained and later arrested.

While inside the apartment, officers observed various narcotics and applied for a search warrant.

The warrant was granted and around 3:35 p.m., investigators executed the search warrant.

During the search, officers recovered approximately 31.75 grams of heroin/fentanyl (1,270 bags), approximately 25.4 grams of cocaine and more than $650 in cash.

Santos Jr., 26, of Holyoke is charged with trafficking cocaine 18-36 grams, trafficking heroin/fentanyl 18-36 grams and arrest warrant.

Cordova Jr., 23, of Holyoke is charged with trafficking cocaine 18-36 grams and trafficking heroin/fentanyl 18-36 grams.

In the afternoon, officers located Steven Montanez at 173 Elm Street in an unrelated investigation.

Montanez was found on Essex Street with two bundles of heroin/fentanyl (20 bags) and was trespassed from the Elm Street building.

The 29-year-old Springfield man is charged with trespassing and possession of a Class A drug.

Around 3:00 p.m., Holyoke detectives went to 30 Laurel Street to locate Patrick Gamache, who had five outstanding arrest warrants.

Detectives found Gamache in a parked car with the doors open and placed him under arrest.

Detectives located two vials of crack cocaine and additional vials with crack cocaine residue.

A female with Gamache, identified as Hannah Simons, had an outstanding arrest warrant and two vials of crack cocaine.

Simons, 26, of Holyoke is charged with arrest warrant and possession of a Class B drug.

Gamache, 27, of Holyoke is charged with possession of a Class B drug and five arrest warrants.

At approximately 6:20 p.m., officers were conducting a property check in the alleyway of 97 Newton Street when they encountered Jose Robles-Ortiz holding a bundle (10 bags) of heroin/fentanyl.

Robles-Ortiz tossed the drugs over a fence and was placed under arrest.

The drugs were recovered.

Robles-Ortiz also had an outstanding arrest warrant from Holyoke District Court for various motor vehicle and narcotics charges.
