Dorset man arrested after firearm discharged during dispute

DORSET — Vermont State Police arrested a 70-year-old Manchester man after he discharged a firearm during a citizen dispute Sept. 10.

Jason A. Day was charged with reckless endangerment and criminal threatening following the 9:31 a.m. incident.

Police received notification of the firearm discharge and responded to the scene to begin an investigation.

Investigators determined Day was the shooter and had been using the firearm in a threatening manner during the dispute before discharging it.

The victim was identified as Brady T. West, 39, of Manchester.

Day was arrested and transported to the Shaftsbury State Police Barracks for processing.

He was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Bennington Criminal Division on Sept. 11 at 12:30 p.m.
