UTICA — A 14-year-old was charged with choking her mother during a domestic dispute on Sept. 3.

Utica police responded to the 800 block of Herkimer Road regarding the incident.

The victim told officers that she and her daughter got into an argument during which the teen placed her hands around her mother’s neck and began choking her.

The victim was able to break free and contact police.

Officers discovered an active order of protection was also in place.

Due to the child’s age and the order of protection violation being a felony, the Juvenile Aid Unit handled the charges.

On Sept. 8, the teen was issued appearance tickets returnable to Oneida County Probation/Family Court for criminal obstruction of breathing and criminal contempt in the first degree.
