5-year-old falls from second-story window in Norton

NORTON — A 5-year-old child fell from a second-story porch window Tuesday afternoon while visiting friends with family.

The Norton Police Department and Norton Fire Department responded to Goodwin Drive at approximately 12:35 p.m. Sept. 9 for the report.

The child’s family was visiting friends at the residence when the incident occurred.

The porch was a three-season room with side-to-side sliding windows that were open at the time.

The investigation indicates that the child pushed against the screen, causing it to dislodge, and fell onto the pavement below.

The homeowner, a family friend, was leaving the residence and witnessed the fall.

Norton Fire Rescue provided immediate medical care.

The child was conscious during treatment and was transported by MedFlight from Mansfield Airport to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island.

No further update is available at this time.
