Worcester police arrest 2 men on gun, drug charges after chase

WORCESTER — Two men were arrested on multiple gun and drug charges following a police chase that began during surveillance on Hitchcock Road on Sept. 8.

Worcester Police Crime Gun Unit and Gang Unit detectives were conducting surveillance to locate Jeremiah Horne, 25, who had an active warrant for his arrest.

Detectives observed a man exit a residence on Hitchcock Road, enter a black BMW SUV and leave the area.

After following the SUV and observing several motor vehicle violations, detectives conducted a traffic stop on Woodland Street at approximately 9:17 p.m.

During the stop, detectives made observations that warranted the operator, Isaiah Horne, 27, to exit the vehicle.

Isaiah Horne refused and fled the traffic stop, striking a detective with the SUV during his escape.

The detective was not injured.

Detectives, joined by uniformed patrol officers and Massachusetts State Police troopers, followed the SUV through the city and onto Interstate 290 and Interstate 190.

The SUV was later located back at the residence on Hitchcock Road.

After a perimeter was established, Isaiah Horne surrendered to police without further incident.

Detectives obtained and executed a search warrant for the residence.

During execution of the warrant, Jeremiah Horne was located inside and taken into custody by a Worcester Police SWAT Team member.

The search yielded numerous rounds of different caliber ammunition, three magazines for firearms, three large capacity magazines, two polymer firearm frames without serial numbers, a tactical pistol carbine conversion kit, parts for manufacturing firearms, 42 grams of cocaine and numerous pills.

Jeremiah Horne was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm second or subsequent offense, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a large capacity weapon feeding device, possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card, possession of an untraceable firearm, improper storage of a firearm, unlawfully possessing a firearm/rifle or ammunition, trafficking in Class B substances and armed career criminal level 3.

Isaiah Horne was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, stop sign violation, failure to stop for police, operating to endanger, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a large capacity weapon feeding device, possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card, possession of an untraceable firearm, improper storage of a firearm, unlawfully possessing a firearm/rifle or ammunition and trafficking in Class B substances.
