PELHAM — A 60-year-old Lowell, Massachusetts man was arrested on drunken driving charges after crashing his pickup truck into a telephone pole on Sept. 9.
Police officers were dispatched to 10 Bridge Street at 11:32 a.m. for a single-vehicle crash.
Officers found a 1998 GMC Sierra with heavy front-end damage that had struck a utility pole.
The driver was identified as Kevin Avila of Lowell, Massachusetts.
The investigation determined that Avila was driving north on Bridge Street when he veered off the road and crashed into the telephone pole.
The Pelham Fire Department transported Avila to a local hospital via ambulance for minor injuries.
Officer Richard Glynn investigated the crash and determined that Avila was impaired.
Avila was arrested and charged with driving under the influence second offense, operating after suspension, reckless operation and criminal mischief.
He was released on personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned at Salem District Court on Sept. 18 at 8:00 a.m.
