ALBANY — State Police assigned to Troop T responded to a two-car rollover crash on the right shoulder of Interstate 90 near Exit 25 at approximately 12:01 a.m. Sept. 7.
The investigation determined that a vehicle driven by Benjamin Zirra, age 59, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane when it struck a second vehicle.
Both vehicles rolled over and came to rest on the right shoulder of the embankment.
Zirra did not report any injuries and declined medical attention.
During the initial interview, the responding trooper detected a strong odor of alcohol.
Field sobriety tests were administered, which Zirra failed.
He was placed into custody for driving while intoxicated.
The driver of the second vehicle and a front seat passenger were not injured.
A rear seat passenger sustained a shoulder injury and was transported by Guilderland EMS to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
Zirra was processed at the State Police barracks in Albany and issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Guilderland Court on Oct. 2.
